There are a lot of active things to do in Glasgow; shopping, clubbing, going to the gym, or biking around the park. But one of the best things to do is just COFFEE SHOPPING. You won't necessarily be there to study or even to drink coffee and eat pastries either.
Our coffee shop excursions were usually an attempt to study/plan out our life schedule, with an immense emphasis on the word "attempt." We usually ended up chillin' and laughing about things that weren't funny, getting a wee bit of physics done, and then getting kicked out of the coffee shop (not because we were obnoxious but because it was closed)... just to find ourself looking for the next best coffee corner to be "productive"at. NOTE: THERE ARE SURELY MANY MORE COFFEE SHOPS TO BE DISCOVERED. LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ONE AND I'D BE STOKED TO ADD IT TO THE LIST (and maybe go there one day?!).

PENA
PENA was the PERFECT coffee shop. It had a little upstairs section and it felt like we were in a treehouse. They also had brunch...which is picture above and tastes as good as it looks. Ordering was perfectly simple there. There were two things on the menu: Sweet and Savory. Also, their grilled cheese sandwiches are dope and served whenever, brunch or not brunch. Only love for this place.

Offshore was cool because it had great lighting. Huge windows for the win. Not sure what was going on with the placement of the furniture but hey it was fun. I liked it. That's all I have to say about Offshore. Also it's right next store to Artisan Roast (described below).

This is not to be confused with Tinder the dating app. This place is nice but there is a wifi time limit and you get a little piece of paper with a username and password. One time the barista just stuffed us a bunch of them but usually you only get one precious little shred of paper.
Really makes you think about using your online time wisely doesn't it? |
Artisan ROAST
Artisan Roast was in second place for me, behind PENA, for Best Coffeeshop-near-school award. It was just.. very cool. You will see for yourself. They roast their own beans so that's awesome. And they have games and stuff hiding behind their staircase. It feels like you're working in an attic or a basement depending if you want to take the upstairs or downstairs option in the coffee shop.
We often found ourselves strolling in with only fifteen minutes till their closing time. I'd just advise you search up the times. Though it looks like they close at 7:30 most days. I guess people are less avid about staying up to work in Glasgow, so late night coffee shops are not so hip.
TCHAI-OVNA HouSE OF TEAThey have a very dark, chill, sleepy vibe around this place. It feels like there is mist/fog/smoke everywhere but only because it seems like it's a place that should have mist/fog/smoke everywhere. Its mysterious...I guess...and there was a cat lounging around that belonged to the cafe there I believe.

icafeStays open until about 9:30 PM. So one of the later coffee shops, compared to Artisan Roast and Pena. But it just feels like a place with tables and chairs versus a hard core coffee shop. I mean, if that's all you need to study then cool, but if you're hunting for a quirky chill coffee place, I don't think this is what you're looking for.
